Colorado Will Ban Indoor Vaping In Public Spaces Starting July 1

Vape pens and electronic cigarettes will no longer be allowed to be used at most public places starting July 1st.

Colorado just passed a bill into law that added vaping to the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act, prohibiting usage indoors and increasing the distances from individuals smoking/vaping to 15 - 25 feet from public entrances. This bill already prohibited smoking inside public spaces.

This new bill hopes to protect customers and service industry employees from harmful chemicals and secondhand when entering and enjoying an indoor public area.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the change is a reaction to statewide concerns about high school students vaping.

Though high school students in Colorado use vaping products about twice the national average, the department suggested that strong smoke-free policies are more likely to deter young people from smoking/vaping.
