200 Inches of Snow Extends Vail Colorado’s Ski Season to May 1st
2022 has been a big year for snowfall and snowmaking at Colorado's ski resorts. So much so that Vail Ski Resort has started off the week with plans to extend this year's ski season by one week to May 1st.
Back in the fall of 2021, Vail Ski Resort opened in early November. With this extension of the ski season to May 1st, the current season will become the longest winter season in the resort's history.
Colorado's Vail Ski Resort Reports 200 Inches of Snowfall So Far
A press release from Vail Ski Resort says it's the investment they made in snowmaking that will allow pass holders one extra week on the slopes. Before the most recent snows over the past few days, Vail resort was at 193 inches of snow last week. They are now well over 200 inches after the weekend snows brought even more snow to the mountain.
Vail Ski Resort Extends the 2022 Ski Season Through May 1st
Last year it was Breckenridge Ski Resort that stayed open the longest with skiing available until mid-May in 2021. Will this year be the year they can stay open until Memorial Day? It may seem like wishful thinking but not to a Colorado skier.
Vail Ski Resort credits the extra snow, their snowmaking ability, and the hardworking crew that looks after the 5100 acres of terrain at the ski resort.
