Colorado ski resorts make Forbes 'Top 10' list.

Forbes, America's premier business magazine teamed up with Z Rankings, the ski resort review website, to come up the "definitive list of best ski resorts in North America." After considering a long list of variables including annual snowfall, terrain, crowds, and the town. These and other factors were plugged into a master algorithm that produced a list of the best out of some 220 ski resorts from Canada, California, Colorado and beyond.

The top spot went to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The #1 ranking is because of its plentiful snowfall, expert terrain and its versatility that's welcoming to skiers of all levels. Plus it's adjacency to Yellowstone and the Grand Teton National Parks make for some excellent day trips away from the slopes.

Coming in at #2 was Telluride. The town was judged as the best there is. It's cool for sure. The restoration of the old buildings along Colorado Avenue is stunning. There's excellent restaurants, bars, festivals, and more. Then there's the excellent terrain that's ranked among the best on the continent. The town is connected to Mountain Village via the free gondola which is super-cool.

A couple of Utah resorts claim the #3 and #4 spots followed by Vail Ski Resort at #5. It's the 'quintessential ski resort.' It's the crown jewel of the largest company in the industry as well. Vail without question is one of the best of the best. It's hard to find a place with a better combination of terrain, snow, lodging, and facilities.

The #6 slot goes to Aspen Snowmass. To start, it's big. It also receives the most snow of the four Aspen area resorts. The lodging is top-notch and the on-mountain dining is among the best and the skiing terrain is versatile enough to please skiers of all skill levels.

A couple of Canadian resorts are at #7 and #9. Sandwiched in between at #8 is Steamboat Ski Resort. The place has a reputation for some of the best snow and powder. The mountain is especially popular around New Year's and Christmas. The lodging choices are many. The town of Steamboat Springs is among the coolest and best in Colorado.

Big Sky in Montana rounds out the Top 10. Honorable Mentions go to Colorado resorts Winter Park that comes in at #12 and Beaver Creek in at #14.
