The State of Colorado has unveiled the new design for the state's driver license, and it features a Western Slope landmark.

The pilot program for the new design is already underway, with the DMV in Littleton issuing the new cards effective Tuesday, March 1. The communities of Aurora and Frisco will follow in the coming weeks.

The new design features Mt. Sneffels, a Western Colorado landmark located between Ouray and Telluride.

For everyone outside of the pilot program area, you'll continue to receive the current Colorado driver license design.

What if you don't need to renew your license anytime in the near future? Do you need to run out and get the new license design? Put simply, no. Your current driver license will remain valid until its expiration date.
