It's too early for JUCO and for the Grand Junction Rockies, but Colorado Mesa  baseball is in full swing and will offer the first fireworks display of the season this weekend!

The CMU Mavericks are in the midst of another stellar season under Head Coach Chris Hanks. The Mavericks currently lead the RMAC standings with a record of 24-4 (34-7 overall) and look to be headed toward yet another appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Mavericks are ranked fourth nationally in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers poll.

Hometown fans can cheer on the Mavericks this weekend when they host Colorado Christian at Suplizio Field.

There will be a fireworks display Friday night immediately following the game against the Cougars. Tickets for the 6:05PM game are $5 and available at the gate.

By the way, it's the annual Little League Baseball and Attendance Night, as the Mavericks try to set a NCAA Division II attendance record. Little League teams will be recognized, and little leaguers in uniform will get in free.

It should be ideal weather for baseball - and for fireworks- with Friday's forecast for Grand Junction calling for sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s.
