Colorado Man Receives Lifetime Hunting, Fishing, Trapping Ban

Jeff Bodnar of Hartsel, Colorado will no longer be allowed to hunt, fish or trap for the rest of his life following an investigation into numerous wildlife crimes.

The 46-year-old will not be allowed to hunt, or anything else in the United States after repeated violations of the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact, which was created in the 1980s to deal with violators like this.

On May 6 he pled guilty to possession of a weapon by a previous offender, which is a class six felony. He was found to be in possession of two black bears and a mountain lion.

Having had his permit to hunt and fish suspended twice before, the lifetime ban was expected. Bodnar was sentenced to prison in 2008 for trying to sell bobcats across state lines.

Should Bodnar be caught hunting, fishing or trapping anywhere in the Continental U.S. he faces up to a $10,000 dollar fine and up to 90 days in jail. The very first compact was made in 1989 between Colorado, Oregon, and Nevada.
