‘Shocking And Unfair': Kim Kardashian Has Strong Thoughts on Colorado Law
People around the world are looking to the Governor of Colorado for his thoughts on clemency for truck driver Rogel Aguilera-Mederos.
26-year-old Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was recently sentenced to 110 years in prison by Jefferson county Judge A. Bruce Jones for the deadly crash that took 4 lives in 2019 on I-70.
Interstate 70 in Colorado
Rogel testified that the brakes on his company's truck failed and that he was unable to stop. Prosecutors argued that Rogel had ample opportunity to avoid the collision by using a runaway truck ramp.
The crash caused a fire, the destruction of 28 vehicles, and shut the highway down in both directions for approximately 24 hours.
Rogel was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and fully and willingly cooperated with law enforcement during the course of the investigation.

According to a press release from the District Attorney Office for Jefferson and Gilpin Counties, District Attorney Alexis King filed a motion on Friday, Dec. 17, for the First Judicial District Court to set a hearing to reconsider the sentence of Rogel Lazaro Aguilera-Mederos.
While the judge and other living victims felt that the sentence was harsh, it was actually Colorado state law that dictated Rogel receive no less than 110 years.
