Contrary to rumors you may have heard, Colorado hunting and fishing seasons have not been canceled.

Apparently there has been a rash of false and misleading social media posts and robocalls regarding the status of Colorado's gaming seasons as well as the operation of state parks and related fees. Officials with Colorado Parks and Wildlife say they have received many calls from residents with questions and concerns after hearing or reading questionable information.

For starters, Colorado's fishing and hunting seasons have not been canceled. The governor's stay at home order allows for outdoor recreation including hunting and fishing. A valid license is still required, though, for hunting and fishing activities and can be purchased online at cpwshop.com.

Have state park fees been rescinded because of the COVID-19 outbreak? The answer is no, a pass is still required for visitors to Colorado's state parks. While playgrounds, picnic areas, campgrounds, dispersed camping, and camping facilities are closed until further notice, non-camping outdoor areas of the parks remain open to the public including hiking trails, boat ramps, marinas, and shorelines.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife website is packed full of information regarding its current operations. Take advantage of the information that is there and don't be misled.

Some of the false information that is circulating could be connected to April Fool's day, Wildlife officials caution residents against giving out personal information to anyone claiming to be offering a refund on CPW products.
