Reunited and it Feels So Good: Lost Colorado Pup Found By Drone
Colorado deputies with the Fremont County Sheriff's Office went above and beyond the call of duty during a drone exercise.
According to a post from the Freemont County Sherriff's Office (FSCO), a missing Golden Retriever that had been lost for 3 months was found with the help of a drone.
Tragic Accident Led to Case of Missing Dog
A Golden Retriever by the name of Farrah went missing after being involved in a car accident with her owner's father reports KRDO.
The man had a seizure while driving which caused him to crash along US 50 and Colorado 9. The dog escaped from the accident and became lost. Taylor Salazar, Farrah's owner knew that her dog was still alive because she received messages from good samaritans who had spotted Farrah but couldn't catch her.
Salazar even received video surveillance footage of Farrah drinking water near someone's farm, so she held on to hope that they would one day be reunited.
Freemont County Sherriff's Office Lends A Hand
The story of Salazar's missing dog was known to a dispatcher with the Freemont County's Sherriff's Office who came up with a brilliant idea.
Deputies had a scheduled training mission with a drone and decided to cover the area where Farrah was last seen. The FSCO contacted Salazar and invited her out to see if together they could bring Farrah home.
Using the drone's infrared camera, the FSCO was able to quickly locate Farrah. Salazar had brought some chicken along with her to coax Farrah out and it worked! Farrah jumped into Salazar's lap and the pair were finally reunited.
Farrah Is on the Road to Recovery
Farrah was reportedly only half of her initial weight when found. According to Farrah's veterinarian, she also may have been hit by a car, causing a serious injury to her leg which now needs to be amputated.
Salazar said that Farrah is adjusting well to being back home and her heart is full since the return of her dearly missed companion.
