This father and son duo from Colorado are making their own Lamborghini. The duo is 3D printing a custom Lamborghini Aventador, which can cost over $600,000, and it all started with Forza Horizon 3.

The idea to 3D print a Lamborghini Aventador all started with a video game. Sterling Backus and his son, Xander, were playing Forza Horizon 3 when their idea was born. Xander asked his dad if they could build the car, and there was only one way to find out.

Sterling and Xander even have a Facebook page about their project, constantly posting pictures and videos and giving updates on their 3D printed Lambo. Their Lamborghini Aventador is a work in progress, the duo has been using 3D printers for body panels, taillight, air vents and more.

Most of the Lambo will be 3D printed, but not all of it. The frame, suspension, and drive train are made of steel according to their Facebook, and the engine is from a 2003 Chevy Corvette.

The father and son duo is making the Lamborghini Aventador customized, using the car as their base model, and adding their own designs along the way.

The custom Lamborghini Aventador is not going be up for sale -- it's just for them. Their Facebook page states that the goal of this custom build is:

The goal will be to show kids how cool science and engineering are and demonstrate the power of technology.

The duo went from seeing the car in a video game, to 3D printing it into their reality.
