Have you ever dreamed of seeing your photos gracing the cover of a magazine? How about a Summer Activity Guide? The City of Grand Junction is hosting a photo contest, and your picture could be featured on the cover of the Grand Junction Parks and Recreation 2017 Summer Activity Guide.

It's safe to say you've taken a good picture or two. Would you like to see it in print? The contest is free to enter and is open to anyone.

What subject matter are they looking for? That's up to you. They're looking for YOUR best photos. After thinking about it for a moment or two, this contest may not be as easy as it seems. You probably take hundreds, if not thousands of photos every year. How many, though, feature Grand Junction area summer activities?

Photos can be submitted by:

  • Emailing a copy of the photo, actual size, to callieo@gjcity.org
  • Drop them off in person at 1340 Gunnison Avenue, preferably on a USB drive or CD.

That part about "actual size" is a little disconcerting. By that, do they mean photos of the Colorado National Monument have to presented in its true size? Do you have any idea how many Megabytes that would take? They must mean in the photo's actual size. Duh.

Entries are being accepted through March 3, 2017. Please keep in mind, all entries will be put on display on social media for a public vote. The photo with the most "Likes" on Facebook and Instagram wins. The winning photo will be announced Monday, April 3.

This will be fun! Fire up that camera. Here's your chance to earn bragging rights. Wouldn't you enjoy seeing your photo on the cover of the Grand Junction Parks and Recreation 2017 Summer Activity Guide?
