As dry weather conditions continue to encourage Colorado's wildfires, the Cameron Peak and Mullen fires are now burning a combined 304,978 acres.

As of official Friday (October 9) morning reports, the Cameron Peak Fire has reached 131,231 acres, with 44% containment. The Mullen Fire has grown to 173,747 acres, with 18% containment.

Cameron Peak Fire activity is expected to increase on Friday afternoon, according to a recent update. Crews will continue to attempt to secure the perimeter.

Meanwhile, the Albany County Sheriff's Office has changed the evacuation status of the Highway 10 corridor near the Mullen Fire from mandatory to pre-evacuation, which will allow residents to access their property if necessary.

Officials are hopeful that this weekend's cold front will provide some much-needed relief to firefighters.
