Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were bromancing it up before the term became a thing, with the two besties having worked together on various projects like 'Good Will Hunting' and 'Dogma.' Now the duo are reuniting once again on the long-in-development adaptation of the Vertigo comic book 'Sleeper.'

While the two won't be starring in the film version, Variety reports they'll team up as producers, along with Jennifer Todd. Writers Shawn Ryan and David Weiner have been hired to pen the script, based on the original comic series by Ed Brubaker.

Set in a noir world where some people are spontaneously developing superpowers, 'Sleeper' is described as follows:

SLEEPER is the critically acclaimed graphic novel series written Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Sean Philips, the Eisner Award-winning creative team of Criminal, which tells the story of agent Holden Carver, a reluctant double agent without hope of rescue.
Tao--the criminal mastermind whose organization Carver has infultraited--had Carver's only lifeline, spymaster John Lynch shot, leaving him in a coma. Tao's cut off every means of escape, and he's persuaded Carver to join him...for real this time.

'Sleeper' has been in development at Warner Bros. since 2008, when Sam Raimi ('Oz, The Great and Powerful') and Josh Donen ('House of Cards') were on board as producers, and Tom Cruise was reportedly eyed to star.

Aside from 'Sleeper,' Affleck and Damon are teaming together for the sitcom 'More Time With the Family,' while Affleck alone has a slew of projects lined up, including directing Fox's 'The Middle Man' and Warner Bros. 'Live By Night.' Of course, he'll also star as Batman in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman-Superman movie. Damon, on the other hand, will next appear in George Clooney's 'The Monuments Men,' which was recently pushed into 2014, and will star in Christopher Nolan's sci-fi film 'Interstellar.'
