Authorities say a retired Army colonel is up on charges in the death of a Colorado State Patrol trooper. The Trooper was struck by a car while investigating an accident south of Denver on I-25. 

KKCO reports that 33-year-old Jaimie Jursevics died Sunday night on southbound Interstate 25 near Castle Rock.

After the incident, the 52-year-old Eric Henderson fled more than 15 miles after hitting the trooper according to investigators.

Henderson was then arrested and jailed on $1-million bond. The charges range from on vehicular homicide, and also leaving the scene and driving under the influence.

The Colorado State Patrol stated that she leaves behind a husband and a young child.
