How completely amazing is this! Jeneve Rose Mitchell of Crawford, Colo., has advanced to the Top 14 on American Idol.

There are tons of great talent here in the Grand Valley. Jeneve is the perfect example of how much music influences us, and how many true talents we have.

I have been following Idol for a long time, and the ability to take a song and make it your own is not an easy task. To impress, the judges and the audience takes a lot. When you hear Jeneve sing, you know she has the talent, she has the drive, and the ability to make a song her own.

Having someone local on Idol gives the show a different feeling for me. I find myself sitting down with a bowl of popcorn ready to watch a feature presentation. I get so worked up knowing that someone from here could be our next Idol! The final Idol. What a great ending that would be, for a show that created some of our biggest stars today.
