For a few weeks, a lion has been seen in the Redlands. It was found to have killed pets in the area and had been getting friendly and too close to people.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife was notified of a lion in the Redlands area. The lion had been attacking animals including cats, dogs, chickens, and a goat.

According to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, they were concerned for public safety and had the lion put down. The main cause of concern was that the mountain lion appeared to be very comfortable around people.

Mike Porras of Colorado Parks and Wildlife said:

“When a lion, which is naturally reclusive, is not showing fear of people, there’s always that possibility that it could cause some serious injuries or worse and that's a cause of concern for our officers"

With these concerns in mind, the lion was put down.
