56 Cats Rescued from a Colorado Home
A homeowner in Colorado Springs was arrested for animal neglect last week after law enforcement rescued 56 cats from the residence, including three that were sadly found deceased.
According to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, the homeowner was a known hoarder and the dwelling had been under investigation for some time. Ultimately, the homeowner gave animal control officers the permission to legally enter the home to trap the cats and safely remove them.
Veterinary examinations showed that many of the rescued kitties are suffering from severe upper respiratory infections, among other medical issues. As soon as these felines recover from the various medical problems, they will be available for fostering and adoption.
Within less than a week of being rescued, the humane society has already helped to get seven of the cats adopted and placed another 23 of them into foster homes.
