Graduating can be intense, inspiring, intimidating, and invigorating. Here are the 5 things I wish I had known when I graduated.

Somethings you have to live to learn, and sometimes you read something that changes your perspective. Here are 5 things I learned along the way.

You can add your own advice for graduates here.

1. Every Job Helps

I know it doesn't always feel like that mundane job will help you, but in the end you can learn useful skills from that seemingly useless job. Sometimes you have to earn your way by doing a job you don't like so much to get to the job you actual enjoy. Other times you learn that the career path with the job you have isn't actually what you want to pursue. Whatever the case may be, if you pay enough attention you can learn useful tidbits to help you in the job you end up in.

2. Be Patient

Your career doesn't happen over night. This was, in my opinion, one of the hardest lessons to learn. Social media makes it exceptionally hard to be patient when pursuing your passion. We see these young stars and all of their success, but when don't see the process to get to where they are now. Seems like these people had over night successes, but the truth is that they have been relentlessly chasing their dreams and finally had a big break.

3. Be Realistic

I always misunderstood this, but I think I have a better handle on this saying now. I always thought it meant downsize your dreams because they're too big, but I think it actually means be realistic about how you're going to accomplish your goals.

4. Don't Discount the Little Wins

Every little win, every step gets you closer to the end goal. Don't forget to look back every once in a while to see how far you've come. This will help you be less overwhelmed about how much further you think you need to go.

5. Work Hard, Trust Yourself

Sometimes we get overwhelmed and it seems like things will never work out. Don't stop working hard because you feel like you'll never get to where you wanna go. Trust that you know your goal and never stop trying your best to accomplish that.
