Why Are Four-Way Stops So Hard to Maneuver?

What is it with four way stops? These are one of the great challenges for too many people. It's as simple as taking turns, which was taught throughout elementary school -- which many people are still trying to master apparently. It’s like most people are thinking, "Me? You? That guy? Should I wave him through, oh god my coffee is hot, should I text my BFF".

There's usually the one person gesturing frantically at other cars like air traffic control. Then there’s that moment when you try to take your turn but someone else thinks it's their turn and you awkwardly GO - STOP! GO - STOP! Finally someone uses some form of communication to get moving again.

This can completely destroy a perfectly good morning commute!

There’s nothing better than a four way stop that flows like a well-orchestrated Beethoven concerto. Best. Feeling. Ever.
