For 55 years, the Holiday Twin in Fort Collins has provided "good ol' fashioned" entertainment on the west side of town. Their motto is, "The Place to Be," and it really does feel like that when you're there.

Having opened in 1968, if anything, the style of cars that have gone to Fort Collins drive-in has probably changed the most. Also, the way that the audio is delivered. After all this time, though, it's still one very cool place. Take a look.

The first word most people think of when it comes to drive-in movie theaters is, "Nostalgia." It was 90 years ago, in the summer of 1933, that the very first drive-in opened, in New Jersey. What kind of cars were showing up in 1933, I wonder. Roadsters, a lot of Ford Model As, and some town cars; it would be great to get a look at that night, wouldn't it?

With Holiday Twin opening in 1968, I'm guessing there were a lot of Mustangs, Fairlanes, Tempests, and T-Birds. It had to have been awesome. "Rosemary's Baby," "The Odd Couple," and "Funny Girl," were just a few of the movies that were big that summer. It had to have been amazing to see them at Colorado's Holiday Twin, sitting with your date, or family, listening to the crackly speakers, avoiding looking at the young couple making out in the car next to you. The making out still happens, but the sound is much better than back in '68, for sure.
