The International Snow Sculpture Championships return to Breckenridge, Colorado this month.

Although no prize money is awarded, participants from around the world will compete for medals and recognition from the international snow sculpture community.

The sculptures are nothing short of spectacular.

Competing teams have 65 hours over five days using only hand tools to complete their works of art, creating an awesome outdoor gallery.

The sculpting takes place January 26 through January 30, while Breckenridge hosts a Fine Arts Festival June 28-30 featuring "burning sculptures, fiery performances, pyrotechnical effects, and other spark filled attractions."

Visitors are welcome anytime during the week, but viewing week begins January 30, and, weather permitting, the sculptures stay on display until February 7.
