19-Year-Old Shot by Colorado Police Officer in August Dies
On Aug. 16, Loveland Police Officer Eddie Luzon responded to a 911 call made by a family member of Domina's. Domina was reportedly having a mental health crisis in the home and was allegedly destructive.
Officer Luzon made contact with Domina and reportedly attempted to communicate with Domina. Domina was allegedly in possession of a knife and advanced toward Officer Luzon.
In response, Officer Luzon shot Domina three times in the abdomen.
Domina was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment where he died weeks later.
Officer Luzon was placed on administrative leave as the Critical Incident Response Team launched an investigation into the incident. Loveland Police also released body camera footage on Aug. 25 from the shooting.
Loveland police said their hope was the release of the video will "[support their] pledge to be transparent with the public".
KDVR said a decision from the District Attorney's Office for the 8th Judicial District is expected to be made by the end of Sept.
The Loveland Police Department was also recently under pressure for an arrest made against an elderly woman with dementia. The City of Loveland announced on Wednesday, Sept. 8 that they've reached an agreement with the victim to settle her $3 million claim against Loveland.
