Crawford Boot & Western Wear, serving Western Colorado for over 31 years, will be closing its doors. Why, after such a long, successful run, are they calling it quits?

Rest assured, this isn't one of those perpetual "Going Out of Business" sales like some stores pull. Crawford Boot & Western Wear at 2702 Highway 50 in Orchard Mesa will be closing their doors by the end of August. Why?

Put simply, after serving the residents of Grand Junction for over 31 years, the proprietor, Harriet Crawford, has decided to retire. She hears Mesquite, Nevada, calling her name.

I, for one, love Crawford Boot & Western Wear. They sell my brands, and their location couldn't be more convenient. For those living in Orchard Mesa, great brands, and great sales were right around the corner. No trips out to the chain stores were required.

Looking back on the 1990s when I was playing on the road with country bands, I must have bought a hundred pairs of jeans from Harriet. For that matter, my purchases also included a few dozen Western shirts and a half dozen pairs of boots.

I'll tell you what, since you deserve a good laugh today, take a look at a couple of photos from my touring days. The entire band bought clothes from Harriet. The clothes are great, but please don't laugh at our hair.

I said no laughing! It was the 1990s, OK!

For the time being, the store is liquidating its inventory. They have a ton of boots to sell, and Harriet estimates it will be sometime near the end of August 2016 when they finally close for good.

I'm going to miss you, Harriet and the crew at Crawford Boot & Western Wear. It was a treat having your store so close to home. I'll miss placing my special orders, not to mention the awesome job you did on tapering legs. Thank you for 31 years of awesome service.
