Make your way to Grand Junction's Audubon Trail, and you'll notice someone has placed a considerable amount of trash near the trail head just West of Albertsons. Why would someone do this? The good news is, this wasn't an act of vandalism. As a matter of fact, it's just the opposite.

You are cordially invited to participate in a cleanup effort commencing Monday, May 2, on this portion of the trail. A dumpster will be located near Redlands Power, only a few hundred feet from the trail head.

It is probably safe to say someone collected the trash you see pictured, and placed it near the trail to get your attention. Nearby, you'll notice a giant plywood sign with wording etched in it.

THANK YOU!

In my mind, this seems perfectly fair. I've walked this trail two or three times a week, every week for the last six years. While I've never been guilty of littering, it would still be my pleasure to help clean up the trail.

It is difficult to tell if this effort has been organized by a city or county entity, or if this is simply an effort forged by people who enjoy using the trail. For no particular reason, I can't help but think it is the latter.

The Audubon Trail is awesome; possibly my favorite of all the trails in the valley. While it is always magnificent, in all fairness, it can get a little trashy at times.

If you love this trail, and could spare a few hours to participate in this effort, you are encouraged to contact "Tom" at 970-210-9485.
