It seems as though many people are misunderstanding the fire ban in the State of Colorado, so I will let the state of Colorado clear up any misunderstandings there are.

First, what is allowed.

You may burn if you have a permanent fire pit, fire rings at private residences or in developed recreational sites like a picnic or camping area. Fire features and chimneys  are allowed when supervised by a responsible adult. Agricultural burns only when allowed by permit with the Sheriff's Office.

What is NOT allowed.

Personal use of fireworks, any use of fire not in a permanently constructed fire grate in a developed park, campground, private residence or picnic area.

Smoking: As this seems to be a sticking point with many people, here is what the the law states in Colorado regarding smoking. NO smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreational site or while stopped in an area six feet in diameter and is void of all combustible material.

Using chainsaws without the proper spark arresting device that has been maintained and is in good working order.

Welding or the use of an acetylene torch unless within an area of at least 10 feet in diameter that is free of combustible material.

Target shooting with explosive targets is not permitted.
