With all of the violence that has been going on, some students from District 51 will be taking part in a walkout.

While the nationwide walkout has already happened, District 51  postponed their walkout because of spring break. The district is being neutral with the walkout. Some staff members will be there for supervision.

The walkout itself took place at 10:00 this morning. These students did a seventeen-minute walkout for those who were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School back in February.

It wasn't just the students who participated either. Parents and other adults stood united with the students that took part in the walkout.

The fact that they did this, in my opinion, shows that these students and their community know what is going on around them. It is also a way for them to show respect and solidarity to those who have died.

This isn't a bad thing to happen. They left it open for any student to participate if they wanted to. Nobody was forced to attend the walkout.

They will also be doing a March for Our Lives event that will be taking place March 24, at 1:00 p.m. Starting at Lincoln Park and making its way to City Hall.

How do you feel about the student-led walkouts? I know if my daughter was to do it I would be behind her one hundred percent.
