It happens, we get used to hanging with our kids all summer. Once school starts it’s kind of a shock that we don’t have them around all day, every day. Don’t be that parent that wanders around the house aimlessly, trying to find some sense of worth, there are plenty of things to do now that you have some alone time.

Visit A Local Coffee Shop

There are so many great coffee shops in Grand Junction. Downtown alone has several, including Roasted and Main Street Bagels. In The Redlands you could visit Monument Village Coffee.

Start or Enhance A Workout Plan

Work out at home, or join a gym. Working out is one of the best ways to spend some alone time. It’s important to take care of your body, and this is a great way to increase your energy and focus throughout the day.

Start A New Show On Netflix

Don’t let this one consume you, but starting a new show can be an exciting thing. Especially if you can find a show that you’ve been wanting to watch for awhile. It gives you something to keep your mind occupied while you clean, or do laundry.

Hike A Local Trail

We live in a pretty amazing place, take advantage of that and go for a hike. Our local trails are killer out here in Grand Junction, don’t miss out on them.

Go Fishing

This is something I never do enough of. Fishing can be super relaxing and a great way to spend a day off. If you have the time, I think definitely think it’s worth it to invest a few dollars and a few hours into some good old fashioned fishing.

Whatever you decide to do, don’t be that parent that doesn’t take the alone time to better themselves, and refresh their mind a bit. Find some things you can do while your kids are in school to help you feel refreshed and happy.
