How Pizza Became America’s Favorite Junk Food

Since time began, or at least since 1905, when the first pizzeria opened in Manhattan Americans have been obsessed with pizza.Although it is said that pizza was originally of Greek origin; starting with flat bread and various oils, herbs, dates, and whatever else was available.

It wasn't until after World War II when soldiers returned from deployment in Italy when things really started to take off.

And BTW, The first frozen pizza's were introduced in 1957 and the rest is history.

With so many styles and variations I'd have to say my favorite is still Canadian bacon, pineapple, and jalapeños with extra cheese, what's yours?
