When someone sneezes, what's the first thing you do? Probably say "Bless you," or some form of that. That's just what one student in Dyersburg, Tenn. did which got her suspended from school.

18-year-old Kendra Turner received in-school suspension from Dyer County High School in Dyersburg, Tenn., after a fellow student sneezed and she said, "Bless you."

Turner was reprimanded by her teacher, tossed out of class and had to serve in-school suspension.

She said that we’re not going to have godly speaking in her class and that’s when I said we have a constitutional right.

The teacher has a list of banned words on the blackboard, the list includes, "dump," "stupid," and "my bad" to name a few.

The school and teacher feel say it's not that "bless you" is a band word, it just causes a commotion in the classroom.

Kendra was sent to the principals office where things turned uglier, where the assistant principal said,

... if I didn’t want to respect my teacher’s rules then maybe my pastor should teach me because my freedom (of) speech and religion does not work at their school...

The assistant principal told the Dyersburg Gazette that there are two sides to every story and this was spun to seem a different way.

Kendra's pastor stands behind the young lady, and hopes other students take a stand against the banned words.

What do you think? Did the teacher overreact?

Should the student get "in trouble" for not following the classroom rules?
