The Grand Junction Police Department is asking for help locating the person who stole softball equipment used by Special Olympics teens.

According to Crime Stoppers of Mesa County, at 10:50 p.m. on Monday, August 6, an officer with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a theft from an auto call in the 300 block of Myrrh Street.

The victim reported that two sports bags, one black the other blue had been taken from the bed of his truck. Inside the bags were eight Rawlings baseball bats, six Rawlings baseball gloves, two sets of shin guards, a chest protector, and softballs. The estimated value of the stolen items is over $700.

If you know the identity of the person or persons involved in this theft, you can make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 907-241-7867.

Information reported to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest can earn the person who provided the information a cash reward of up to $1,000. Reports can also be filed anonymously by using the P3Tips app or website.
