Shelter Pets Art to Benefit Roice-Hurst Humane Society

A new art exhibit at Grand Junction City Hall titled 'Shelter Pets' will benefit Roice-Hurst Humane Society.

The exhibit will have it's official opening on Friday (April 1) from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

The collage pieces, created by Grand Junction artist Cathey Pabst, represent shelter pets who need a loving home. The exhibit also features 'kennel cards' that tell stories about how animals end up in shelters.

The pieces of the collage are for sale with proceeds benefiting the Roice-Hurst Humane Society program that helps veterans and senior citizens adopt pets from the shelter by subsidizing part of the cost.

Roice-Hurst Executive Director Anna Stout says,

We are excited that Cathey decided to create this special installation for Roice-Hurst to bring attention to the plight of homeless animals and help raise money to subsidize some of their adoptions."

The art will be on display at City Hall through June. The shelter hopes to raise $1,400 from the art 'adoptions.'
