A state representative is pushing a bill to allow more leniency to minors who share indecent images. This will keep minors from being charged with a felony for being in possession of such images.

KKCO is reporting that Yeulin Willett who is a State representative would rather have the option to charge minors with a misdemeanor. Willett went on to say

A large sexting scandal emerged at a Colorado high school and the school and officials found students were using an app on their phones that hide photos by appearing as a calculator or a different type of app that wouldn't be detected by parent's or adults as a threat to their children.

The way that the current state law reads, anyone, if convicted, could be forced to be registered as a sex offender and that type of exposure could stick with them into their professional lives.

Willett went on to say that:

The bill is to be presented in the next session, that will be next year in January.
