We knew Sabrina the Teenage Witch was likely to conjure her very own Riverdale spinoff, but magic can be a might unpredictable. As such, the new series has charmed its way to a two-season order, surprisingly not on The CW.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled series based on Archie Comics graphic novel The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will shoot twenty episodes for Netflix, rather than Riverdale’s home on The CW. The twenty episodes will make up two seasons on the streaming service, though it remains unclear if the series will have any direct interaction with its CW companion.

CW showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote the adaptation. The new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is described both as “a dark coming-of-age tale that traffics in horror, the occult and witchcraft,” and “in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist and finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”

The writers room is said to open on Monday, with filming taking place from February to June, and June to October. It isn’t clear how or when a premiere might take place, but stay tuned.
