Two Western Colorado bands will join forces on November 5 to raise funds for music students at a local High School. Tickets for this annual event are for sale now. Here are five rock-solid reasons why you should attend this event.

Grand Junction High School Band Parents Inc., present a fundraising concert at the Grand Junction High School Auditorium on Saturday, November 5, featuring Stray Grass and the Desert Flyer Band . Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 6:45.

This is a fantastic event, and you should definitely make plans to attend. In the event you need a little convincing, here are five reasons to attend:

  • Both bands, Stray Grass and The Desert Flyer Band, include members who were once students in the Grand Junction High School Band Program. (Okay, it was back in the mid-80s... so what if they're old)
  • Several members of the two bands now have kids involved in the band program at GJHS.
  • Band instruments are expensive, and this fundraiser contributes to the acquisition of new gear for the students.
  • The benefits of music education during a student's high school career are well documented. This is your chance to encourage hard working students to hang in there and succeed.
  • These two bands love to play, and they put on a pretty good show. Get your family together for a fun Saturday evening event that benefits everyone.

Okay, there you go, five reasons why you should purchase your tickets. While we're at it, who exactly are these guys? Here's a brief introduction to your featured acts for the evening.

Stray Grass

Desert Flyer Band

Purchase your tickets by calling Ray at 970-260-4956 or 970-462-9701. You'll see GJHS students selling tickets around town. Tickets are $10. In the event you don't get advance tickets, they are available at the door.

A number of proud GJHS band parents have put a tremendous amount of effort into this event. Imagine, if you will, a packed house at the GJHS auditorium with students and parents enjoying music from two local groups. When it is all said and done, students at GJHS, the musicians of tomorrow, get the proceeds. Not that's a good time. Please make plans to attend.
