Each week I will search for a new and unique beauty idea on Pinterest and try it out.  Then I will let you know if it’s a Beauty “Big Hit” — or a Beauty “Bust”.

This Week’s Pin: Using Raw Honey as a facial cleanser

The Claim: Raw honey contains many moisturizing and antibacterial properties, so using it exclusively as a facial cleanser (without additional products) will leave your skin smooth, soft, and less prone to blemishes.

Items needed:

* Raw honey (can be found at most supermarkets in the organic section -- NOT with the regular honey products -- or in most health food stores) You are looking for RAW honey, the kind that has bits and pieces of honeycomb in it, as that acts as a sort of exfoliator.

* warm water and washcloth

Directions:  scoop out a small amount of raw honey and apply to your face in small circular motions... it should feel a bit grainy and will be working as a cleanser AND exfoliator .... if honey is too thick to spread, you can add a small amount of warm water, but you don't want to water it down too much....you want it to rest on your skin like a mask, not get rubbed in like lotion.

Once you have applied the honey over your entire face, let it rest there for 10 minutes.  It's sticky, obviously, so you will probably just want to take those 10 minutes to sit quietly and read or watch TV. If the doorbell rings, don't answer it, you will most likely scare whoever it is.

After 10 minutes, gently rinse the honey mask from your face with warm water and a washcloth.  You are advised to NOT use moisturizer afterwards as the honey is supposedly moisturizing enough.

The Results: The Pin suggests using this method for at least 2 weeks, morning and night, and then note the difference in your skins texture and health. I have been following this routine for roughly 2 weeks now and, although I cant say that it has taken away my crow's feet.  My skin DOES feel softer and the fine lines seem a little softer.  Also, I don't struggle much with breakouts, but I have to admit that in the two weeks I have used this, I haven't had a single zit.  Whether that's just coincidental or a direct result of the antibacterial properties, I'm not sure, but we are going to assume there's a connection. I'm a believer!

The Verdict: The Raw Honey face wash is a Beauty “Big Hit”!
