North Avenue in Grand Junction is about to undergo some major change. Grand Junction's City Council has voted to change the street name to University Boulevard.

On Wednesday night, everything changed. Well, the well-known street name, North Avenue, will be changing. Grand Junction's City Council has voted in favor of the street name change. The change is led by CMU20000, whose goal is to "promote the growth of Colorado Mesa University to 20,000 students on campus," according to KKCO and CMU2000's website.

North Avenue has been around for a while and it makes you question the reasoning behind it. I think that this is a great change for Grand Junction! The street name change to University Boulevard symbolizes our support for CMU. In 2016, CMU had over a $445 million impact on the Grand Junction area. We should strive to meet the 20,000 student mark because it will continue to help us grow. I agree with the President of the Bray Company and I think that it shows that:

...the university is a part of this community, and we are a part of this university." said Lynn Thompson.

The street name change is happening in March of 2018. There's also discussion of 12th Street changing as well. I think change is good! What do you think about North Avenue becoming University Boulevard?
