Today Netflix announced that it will be raising it's prices for all new subscribers!

Since I am currently a subscriber to Netflix, I was notified via email about the hike in prices. The price currently for online streaming only is $7.99 a month with the new price being $8.99 per month. Yes this is for new subscribers only but if you're a current subscriber your price will jump up two years from now. This is what the email said:

"In order to continue adding more movies and TV shows, we are increasing our price from $7.99 to $8.99 for new members. As a thank you for being a member of Netflix already, we guarantee that your plan and price will not change for two years."

I knew there was word of a price hike so I am not surprised nor am I upset. It is only $1 extra per month. Plus, if this means they can continue to produce great original programming like 'House of Cards' or 'Orange is the New Black' then I am all for it.

I think $8.99 is still a pretty good deal for the online streaming. There are plenty of great shows and movies available. Will this steer you away from Netflix in the future or make you cancel your current subscription?
