Missing Teen From El Paso Found Dead Near Ouray

A red Ford F-150 belonging to Edgar Vargas was found just off of Red Mountain Pass, on Wednesday. The Ouray County Coroner identified the body found at the site as 18-year-old Edgar Vargas.

Edgar's body was found in the canyon below US 550, off of Red Mountain Pass near Ouray, Colo.

The Ouray County Coroner has not yet determined the cause of death, however, Colorado State Patrol says that it is believed at this time that Vargas was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Vargas' family said he was driving from El Paso, Texas to attend a friends prom in Grand Junction. His family lost contact with him last Thursday (April 16) night, and he was reported missing Friday.

Because the vehicle was down on the canyon, no one had spotted it, until Wednesday morning.
