In Less Than 30 Minutes You Can Learn How to Save a Life

You may think that saving lives is for "heroes", but, the fact is, in less than 30 minutes anyone can learn to save a life.

According to the American Heart Association, 90% of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital die. Only 46% of those get the immediate help they need before professionals arrive. That's what makes this special event so vital.

This Saturday, (June 24) the Grand Junction Fire Department will be teaching hands-only CPR between 8AM and 12 NOON at Grand Junction High School.

While this course does not result in a credential card, the skills you learn could save somebody's life one day.

Hands-only CPR means what it sounds like - hands only. This CPR training does not require any sort of mouth-to-mouth contact, rather emphasizing the importance of beginning chest compressions on the victim immediately and continuing until medics arrive.

The CPR training on Saturday doesn't take a lot of time, but countless lives may be saved because of it. If you are interested in this free training, pre-registration is encouraged, but not necessarily required. Sign up at www.heart.org/savealifeco.

Each participant will take home the American Heart Association's CPR Anytime Kit that will allow for some additional training and practice.
