A rockslide that occurred this week near mile marker 124 has caused the closure of I-70 until at least Thursday Evening. Over 300 cars per hour travel through the Canyon, which all now has to be diverted.

As CDOT and investigators clean up the mess from a major rockslide down Glenwood Canyon, I-70 will remain closed. From the picture above, you can see a semi-trailer that was caught up in the rockslide.

Travelers are advised to use an alternate route. However, that may sound easier than it actually is. According to CDOT, these are your alternatives to the I-70 block.

Investigators continue to monitor the situation by land and by air. The Geohazard team has been on site since the slide was first reported.
