Interstate 70 travelers will be encountering a slight detour next week as a section of the road is closed down for construction work.

The good news, the detour is short, it's only for three days, and it will take place at night.

I-70 will be closed Monday through Wednesday (July 11-13) from 8PM-6AM from the eastern edge of Glenwood Springs to the main Glenwood exit. The closure is expected to end at 6AM on Thursday, July 14.

Westbound motorists will have to exit I-70 at exit 116, go along Sixth, and back on to I-70 at the Yampah spa. Motorists traveling east will have to get off of the interstate at the  Yampah Spa, travel along Sixth, and then back onto the interstate at exit 116.

Construction workers are placing steel girders for the new pedestrian bridge over the Colorado River and Interstate 70.The bridge is scheduled to open in March of next  year.
