Haunted Park in Colorado is Actually Cemetery

This park in Denver is the perfect place to take a stroll, have a picnic and maybe catch a glimpse of a ghost. Cheesman Park is a cemetery turned park, which means it's time to get creepy.

Cheesman Park is on 8th and Franklin Street in Denver. The park was actually a  cemetery from 1858 through 1907. WHen the park was split into a residential area and a pavilion was built, the bodies of the deceased had to be moved. People were given 90 days to claim and relocate their loved ones.

E.P. McGovern was hired to relocate the bodies to different cemeteries in 1893. This man, paid by the casket, chopped up bodies and redistributed the limbs in coffins made for children. McGovern left graves open for years which resulted in looting. One of the grave diggers, Jim Astor, was

One of the grave diggers, Jim Astor, looted as he was removing the bodies. Astor felt a ghost on his shoulders and did not return to work. As if all of that isn't bad enough, thousands of bodies are still in Cheesman Park.

The park is also on sacred Arapaho land, which is just asking for a haunting. There are numerous accounts of visitors and residents of the surround areas of feeling grief and dread and difficulty getting up from the grass as if they were being weighed down.
