Grand Junction Regional Airport was evacuated yesterday afternoon. KKCO reports that people walking through the airport and employees were complaining that they were having issues with breathing.

Responding to the complaints, the Grand Junction regional airport called out the Grand Junction Fire Department and the Hazmat Team, along with the Grand Junction Police Department.

According to Shawn Montgomery of  the Grand Junction Fire Department:

Grand Junction Regional Airport completed the evacuation quickly, within twenty to thirty minutes and airport operations were stopped for an hour. The evacuation was due to a canister of pepper spray that was seized by TSA had been accidentally released into the air.
