The Grand Junction Police Department is asking for community help to locate the person who broke into a vehicle and stole a handgun and ammunition.

The theft occurred sometime between 7 a.m. Sunday, August 14 and 7 a.m. Monday, August 15 in the 600 block of Silver Oak Drive.

During that time, a suspect or suspects broke into a vehicle and stole a black Glock 43 9mm semi-automatic handgun with the serial number ZEG023 and two magazines full of .45 caliber Glock ammunition. The value of the stolen items is at least $700.

If you know of, or have seen the stolen handgun, or can identify those who have it, call Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 241-7867. If the information leads to an arrest, the tipster can earn a cash reward of up to $1,000.

The identity of those submitting information is completely anonymous. Tips can also be anonymously submitted through the Crime Stoppers of Mesa County website.
