Grand Junction Mother of Son Battling Cancer Continues to Support Others Through Nonprofit and Golf Outing

A young Grand Junction man's battle with cancer is inspiring his mother to help others through the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation and the annual golf scramble.

At age 13 Jordan Jones was diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer.  After six cycles of chemotherapy and seven surgeries, Jordan had won his battle and even played a year of high school football.

Unfortunately, in June of 2015, Jordan found out he had tumors in his lungs, liver, and abdomen, and has resumed a treatment regimen. This life and death struggle has resulted in medical expenses of more than $1 million and a GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family deal with these expenses.

Jordan has done all of the chemotherapy he can do, and is currently being treated via immunotherapy.

It was through this on-going battle that Jordan's mother, Kim, started the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation to help families that are fighting a similar battle and to draw attention to the early detection and prevention of testicular cancer.

The Tee Off for Testicular Cancer Golf Scramble is an annual fundraiser for the foundation and golfers are needed to join the cause and support the effort by playing in the event.

The scramble is being held on Friday, May 6 at Adobe Creek National Golf Course in Fruita. The cost is $599 per four-member team which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, range balls, two complimentary drink tickets, a gift bag, and lunch catered by Cowboy and the Rose.

It's a fun event, but more importantly it does so much good, and so I am hoping that all of my golf buddies in the Grand Valley will seriously consider getting a team together for this great event and get registered.Maybe some local employers would even help their employees a little bit financially to help get a team together for the TCAF golf event.
