Grand Junction Man Arrested in Paige Birgfeld Homicide Investigation

Lester Ralph Jones of Grand Junction has been arrested in connection with the 2007 death of Paige Birgfeld.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Department, 63-year-old Lester Ralph Jones, of Grand Junction, was arrested this morning (Nov. 21) after a warrant was signed for his arrest. Jones is being charged with 1st and 2nd degree murder, kidnapping, and arson.

Back in October of 2007, four months after the disappearance of Birgfeld, Jones was named as the sole suspect in the case. Jones is being held without bond, at least until his first court appearance.

In October of 2012 Birgfeld's skeletal remains were found in the Wells Gulch Area in Delta County. Other personal items were found with the remains, which were positively identified as those of Paige Birgfeld of Grand Junction.
