Grand Junction Bicyclist in Critical Condition

Colorado State Patrolman Dan Chermok stated that around 1:00pm on Sunday, March 22, a bicyclist was headed West on G road (by 34 road) when he was hit by a vehicle.

The bicyclist was attempting to turn left across two lanes when they were hit. The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. At this time there are not any charges considered for the driver, however, the bicyclist underwent surgery late last night.

In the case of a vehicle accident, it's hard to say just how much good a helmet would do, however, it's a heck of a lot better than not wearing a helmet. I'm not making a mockery of this unfortunate situation, but I am stating that it's so important to wear a helmet, and they proper safety gear for any dangerous hobbies, people.

I hope the bicyclist come pull through this, and let's all be safer on the roads from now on!
