None of us were there when it happened, but thanks to Dinosaur Journey in Fruita we can get an up close and fascinating look at how it all ended for the dinosaurs millions of years ago.

Steven Spielberg did a marvelous job of bringing dinosaurs to life in the "Jurassic Park" movie series, feeding our fascination with these extinct creatures. The dinosaurs seem so real and look so realistic. Of course, it's just a movie, but Dinosaur Journey in Fruita is helping sort out the facts from fiction.

The Museums of Western Colorado are featuring a special temporary exhibit this summer called "Tyrannosaurus rex and the end of the Age of the Dinosaurs." The exhibit features a life-size, roaring, moving, animatronic T-rex. Visitors will also have a chance to stand underneath an asteroid for photos, see a volcanic eruption model, real fossils, and the latest science behind one of the largest mass extinctions in the history of the universe.

Dinosaurs are fascinating creatures, as is the science surrounding their existence. We are constantly learning and gaining an understanding of these reptiles, and insight into their demise. This is a great chance to get up close and personal with a dinosaur, and maybe even learn something.

Visitors can see this dynamic exhibit 9AM-5PM throughout the summer, and it is included with the regular admission to the museum.
