An evacuation of a Colorado Mesa University dormitory forced students into the cold due to a break in a gas line.According to the Grand Junction Fire Department, a gas leak formed last night at Garfield Hall.

When the leak was initially found, the dormitory was placed on shelter in place. After further investigation, it was found that a 2 inch gas line had began to leak in the area where construction was being done. Crews from Xcel Energy and the Grand Junction Fire Department then evacuated the dorm.

After the leak was shut down and repaired, rooms were ventilated and students were able to return to their rooms. There were no injuries reported.
