Excitement has been building regarding the first ever Marijuana commercial to air in Colorado. It was to air during the Jimmy Kimmel show.

The rules for marijuana advertising in Colorado state that where recreational use of the drug is legal, all of the commercials have to be aired after 10 p.m. and can't show people using the product.

The commercial ended up being delayed by KMGH TV. The reason?

The likeliest reason for the delay is that marijuana possession and use is still contrary to federal law, and Scripps does not want to run afoul of possible federal penalties nor does it want to jeopardize its relationship with its other suppliers.

No Denver TV stations have agreed to run cannabis commercials, it seems they would rather wait until the federal government legalizes marijuana.

The Federal Communications Commission has not weighed in yet on their stance on how it would treat ads for cannabis businesses in states where they are legal.
